Maintenance and Care of Surveillance Cameras

When it comes to the daily use of surveillance cameras, certain measures must be taken to protect and maintain the cameras properly. As WEILAILIFE, a leading brand in surveillance systems, we recommend the following guidelines:

Avoid direct exposure of the cameras to sunlight to prevent damage to the camera's image sensor.

Keep the cameras away from substances such as oil, steam, water vapor, humidity, and dust.

Do not use regular cleaning agents or organic solvents to wipe the cameras.

Pay attention to regular cleaning of the cameras. If the lens requires cleaning, use a soft brush and an air blower to remove dust before gently wiping it with lens paper. Avoid using hard paper, tissues, or napkins as they can cause damage.

Avoid pulling or twisting the connecting cables, as this can potentially damage the cameras.

If the cameras are not in use for an extended period, it is advisable to cover the lenses with lens caps or use a cloth to protect them. For users of cameras equipped with CMOS lenses, it's important to avoid using them in excessively low light conditions, as it can affect the image quality.

Before powering on the cameras, ensure that all settings are correctly configured. Avoid operating them in high-temperature, humid, or strong magnetic field environments. Also, prevent prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or bright lights to avoid damage to the camera sensor.

Pay attention to the stability of the camera's power supply.

For cameras running continuously for a long time, it is recommended to shut them down for at least 30 minutes each week before restarting.

Regularly perform safety checks on all equipment, including monitoring the normal operation, image display, control functions, and the health of the hard drives.

Use UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and voltage stabilizers to power all equipment whenever possible, to prevent damage caused by unstable voltage or frequent power outages (such as hard drive failures).

Follow the correct shutdown procedure and avoid using the power switch to turn off the system, as this can potentially damage the system software, motherboard, hard drives, and other devices.

Ensure that the DVR/NVR and computers used for surveillance are dedicated to security purposes and not used as regular computers to prevent security breaches.
